The valencia or murcia orange is a sweet orange commonly used for juice extraction. One orange produces 90 grammes of juice!
Valencias are in season from February through October, with peak production in May, June and July. Hence, valencias are often called "summer" oranges.
Oranges are a superb source of potassium, fibre, flavonoids and vitamin C. One orange contains approximately 70 milligrammes of vitamin C, well over 100% of the RDA!
