Oldtymestockings German Sock Machine Museum

Chemnitz 1/S Strickmaschine

Manufactured for industrial strength knitting, this German sock machines were composed of iron, steel and brass.  Like most European sock machines, the German Chemnitz came standard with 42/84 combinations, brass tension dials, brass needle collars, brass set up baskets and standard accessories.


 

Schnell-stricker German Knitting Machine

Manufactured by Gustav Nissen & Company of Hamburg, Germany, this circular knitting machine promised Empor durch Wert-Arbeit!  The Schnell-stricker sock machine resembles the Imperia and Cymbal circular knitting machines in design.  Schnell-stricker sock machines came standard with row counters, 42 slot ribber dials and 84 slot cylinders.
